Gambling software firm Playtech announced a year-on-year revenue rise of 81 per cent rise in third quarter revenue to $26.9 million. Chief Executive Mor Weizer, who called the quarter outstanding, said that the gain incorporated a 51 per cent year-on-year increase in casino revenues to $19.2 million for the period, and a 266 per cent increase in poker revenues to $7.5 million.

Weizer added that the quarter’s revenues had risen by 11 per cent from the second quarter, and predicted that results would be above expectations in 2008.

A statement from Playtech revealed that revenue 'significantly' exceeded those earned prior to the US' online legislation, and that its European-facing licensees, which generate over 70 per cent of its revenues, continue to show strong growth as they grow market share.

Shares in the firm rose nearly four per cent after the news was announced.
